We've Come So Far

Strawberry Singh put out her Monday Meme this week and it struck a chord with me and the outfit I was fiddling with the break me out of my Pre-Valentine's Day funk I was in. So here goes...

Meme instructions: Share when you started Second Life, when you started blogging about Second Life and talk about any Second Life blogging milestones you wish to share with your readers. 

I started SL back in college, which really wasn't that long ago considering, but since I'm a young-en the fact that I just had my 6th Rez Day is slightly remarkable in my eyes. At first I was only on for the social interactions and the clubs but I started to get hooked on the fashions when I became a +DV8+ Live Model back in the day. After a couple years of doing that I started to look into blogging and when they shut their doors I ended up with too much time on my hands, and still had my interest in fashion, so I decided to try out blogging in July 2012. From there it has been a learning experience. I looked back at some of my first pictures and just cringed at the picture quality from my craptop before I discovered how to trick it into thinking it could take a decent photo. Right now the biggest milestone I can see that is what really speaks to me here is the start of this year. In case you didn't notice, I came back with a vengeance when I got my new computer built and I am loving every minute of it. Not only has my photography improved just because better card, but now that I can see shadows and materials I am learning how to bend the lighting to my will and all those other little things I never bothered to learn because I couldn't see the difference. My whole blogging mojo seems to have gotten a revamp too with this new computer. Last month, between Kaylith and I, we did 16 blog posts. There have only been a couple months since I started this blog that we have come close to that and it feels good to be able to let my creative juices flow so freely once more.

So now to get to that part I said about my funk, because lets face it after getting my mojo back I was upset to have plateaued so quickly, and spent this past weekend raging after I finally got the two pictures taken and convinced myself I was happy with them. I was getting frustrated and everywhere I looked I couldn't find inspiration, so I decided to go out of my box and remembered seeing some off the wall stuff at [sYs] that I could play with and see if that randomness that I didn't think I could pull off got me back in my groove...

Well I ended up not going with the original dress I had in mind, because the friend I brought shopping *coughs*Lillith*coughs* got distracted in the back room where the TRON inspired dress was hiding and I wandered in and found this sculpted prim beauty. I bought it for giggles thinking there was no way I would be able to pull off the weird sleeves and ended up relishing the challenge of working with prims again, though I won't be going back anytime soon (because finding a pose was the hardest part with the prim skirt and the weird shaped sleeves). Anyways it got me thinking about how far WE have progressed as individuals and as a community since I started SL and it got me back in my groove. So here's to US!

So recently I was dragged to a new club, and while it isn't the normal type of club I think of when I think of SL clubs, the build itself is gorgeous and the people have made it feel like my second home. Then again I walked in wearing one of my recently skimpy outfits and was told to hop on the pole if I have any emoting skills at all, but that's a whole different story...

The 11th Hour

So I love that the theme of Uber this round is celestial and of course I leaned more to the Sci-Fi parts of it right off the bat. I couldn't pass up the jacket or pants and they were instant buys for me. Serenade For The Damned

She sings with a voice like velvet to soothe the souls of the lost ones.

Inspiration for this shot came from that of the sexy and sultry demeanor of Hollywood starlets, like Marilyn Monroe for example. Being myself, I absolutely had to take it a step further and draw from the beautiful darkness of the lost and damned. It all came together when I put this JOLI skin on, and it simply called out to me to sing. So luscious curls courtesy of LeLutka, a beautiful black dress from Purple Moon, and Black Lace gloves brought her to life. I couldn't for the life of me find a pose I liked though,

I am still not sure why I started to channel Jessica Rabbit as soon as I saw this purple dress, but I did. So it is Project Limited time again and while I missed the rush to get some of the stuff I wanted there was still a few must haves left in stock and you should grab them before they are gone if they aren't already. So I fell in love with the Elven ears that AITUI came out with for The Season Story and from there everything just kinda flowed. We <3 RP delivered with this gorgeous hair from EMO-tions that includes this headpiece that just exudes elven royalty. But I couldn't stop there. I've been hearing and seeing A LOT about the newest eyes from IKON so I had to give them a try, and well I think I found my fantasy eye store for the next long while. Not only were there a ton of options on the wall, each option was a set in and of itself with a exuberant amount of options. It took me 5 minutes to get past the iridescent option (because rainbows, duh!), But once I did the demonic ones just called to me and well I will let the results speak for them selves....

So this week I gave myself a challenge since Olive came out with this adorable new hair, and I just normally don't do hats of any kind. So I said f-it I need to push my limits and thus the result.

Face The Dark

So face the dark and I'll teach you about fire in the blink of an eye.

Someone is definitely developing an affinity to editorial hair... And that may or may not be me. This gentleman here, whom we'll call Mr. Sapphire for now, wanted to off his look. He is wearing the male group gift from JOLI, which comes in this lovely pale tone (with appliers), and has four eyebrow/goatee color options (Black, Blonde, Brown, Red). I definitely love his choice in makeup, as I think it adds a darker touch and conveys the feeling he intended. Those piercing eyes from Ikon are quite beautiful, yet striking if you ask me. That halo from CerberusXing is a wonderful accessory too, it's unrigged, modifiable mesh and is available in different colors.

So I squeed when I found out that the theme for this month's Collabor88 was Unicorns! Because I love them and any of my friends will tell you that without even a moments hesitation. So now that I got this shiny new computer up and running I was going to *try* to play catch-up on some of the awesomeness that I missed out blogging last month. The I log on to a notecard advertising this new dress and even thought it's below freezing outside and I'm shivering as I type this I had to show of this skimpy little piece of sexy.

So I know I've been MIA for just over a month, but I swear it was partially with good reason. See I took a vacation (this was much needed and long overdue), which sadly ended with me having a (thankfully mild) case of the shingles, BUT by the time I was over that all of the parts for my NEW COMPUTER came in and I spent the time in between the holiday festivities building it and learning a few new tricks now that I have a graphics card that can handle them. So with the new year I am planning some changes to the blog starting with my photography! First up Ultra graphics tweaking windlights to my needs and SHADOWS! So recently I've stumbled upon a store called Moyet. My jaw dropped when I saw their latex creations and I was completely blown away with the mesh quality (not to mention the rigging is beautifully done).
