Nota Saint

Zibska's work is always inspiring me, filling me with different emotions that power my artwork. This time, Zib inadvertently got me feeling a case of Nostalgia with her Daphne makeup. The moment I saw the color option that was spot on violet and spring green, it made me think back to my SLRDA days. Yes, I used to do Secondlife Roller Derby and even won two awards for Most Improved and Rising Star. I used to skate for DV8's Dreadnoughts, which was the baddest bunch of ladies I had ever met and it was where I met my best friend to this day, Dragon! I was one of the best skaters on that team and at one point the best pivot. Good memories of good times. But enough rambling about that and back to this beautiful makeup. Daphne will be available at the Mesh Body Addicts Fair, comes with 12 options, as well as appliers for TMP. I paired it with another release she will have out at the fair, her Delice lipsticks! Delice comes with 30 colors and appliers for the Lelutka mesh head. I'm definitely in love with these lipsticks, they have the perfect amount of gloss on them and just so dang sexy! I couldn't resist putting on my old uniform that displayed my derby name (that's the same in both RL and SL) Nota Saint and my number 66. The uniforms were not and are not available for purchase sadly, but the gloves for my Slink hands totally are. As for hair, I used to rock a mohawk style, but I decided to go with Requiem from Moon since it was in the same flavor but different enough; Requiem is currently available for July's round of Uber. Finding a pose was tricky since I was not in the mood for making my own, but Apple Spice had my back.

Mental Interzone

They say orange is the new black, eh? Well I disagree, but orange definitely goes perfectly with black. I'm back from vacation and feeling completely refreshed, I decided to get a little experimental. What better way than to don myself head to toe with Zibska and play with a color that is oh so ignored, ORANGE! I know I'm being a bit bad in using the same hair Zib used in her ad, but it was so perfect and gave me such inspiration for the final composition that I could not resist. Tethys comes in 20 hair colors, is easily modifiable, and includes matching hair bases for both legacy avatars and TMP. This bright, statement making dress called Olalla is currently available at FAD Round 3. The necklace and dress come with 12 colors, controlled via HUD. The boots, Svea are pretty sexy if you ask me. They come with 14 dark colors and the heel, platform, and boot are all separately texturable via HUD as always. As for cosmetics, I went with my favorite hand tattoo from Zibska (it can go with almost anything), this bright makeup from Zibska to peek out from under the hair, and the perfect matte black lipstick from cStar.

Recollection In the Sand

"Earthbound, yet undetainable."

My posting has been a bit slow this month with all of my trips to the Venice beach, more precisely the Freakshow to hang out with my friends that work there. Going to the beach got me back in the mood to do another tropical post and since FashionTropic is still going strong until the end of this month, I decided to pick up a new bathing suit. Ghee put out an array of different items for swimwear, all mix'n'match compatible with each other! It was incredibly fun playing with the different pieces since each comes with 5 colors, all HUD controlled. Trying to decide on accessories was a difficult one, not because I could not find what I was looking for, rather I had trouble choosing from the beautiful designs that Moondane had out. I ended up going with their Hibiscus falls, which includes a necklace, a headpiece, and a pair of earrings. this jewelry set is no modify, but shiny, full bright, resize, and textures can be controlled via touch menu. There are 6 metal textures, 10 gems, and 10 flower textures included. Hair was definitely an easy choice, since Moon has this gorgeous style out for Hair Fair. Admittedly I did just use it in a pose recently, but it wasn't quite shown off, so I had to use it again to show you the beauty of this style! As far as makeup goes, I went with my favorite eyeliner from cStar (the most well made eyeliner in SL in my opinion) and some gorgeous green eyeshadow from Zibska. Posing was rather difficult because I was not entirely sure what I wanted to do; at first I thought about sitting in the tides, but one my best friends had just made some new poses that were unreleased and this one in particular called out to me. I convinced her to let me use the pose (and hopefully release it sooner than later) and set out for a shoot.

Darker looks are my specialty, especially when it comes to drop dead gorgeous latex. I know I've used these boots recently, but I couldn't resist using them again for this outfit. This bodysuit comes with appliers, so I was able to use it with my Maitreya mesh body. The gloves did as well, and they're absolutely stunning! For my accessories I went with a more simple but cute collar a friend of mine made, a shoulder piece and a headpiece from Zibska. I felt they went well together since they both had the antler elements. Greer has 8 ruffle colors and 4 antler colors, while Sentinel has 10 skull textures and 20 antler textures with two separately texturable antlers. They're both unrigged, modify, and I found them very easy to fit. not to mention they go together wonderfully! Hair was not a problem to find, since Moon had this really gorgeous side style that worked perfectly for what I was envisioning. For posing I decided to go with something different than I normally do. Apple Spice had the perfect pose for what I envisioned, so it was all the matter of putting together my set. Last minute however I felt like I jsut needed something... I wasn't sure. Knife? Magick scepter? Sword? No. Riding crop; and Zibska had the perfect one in her Cynthia set. Then it was time to snap the picture! Dead Apple's Phantom Eyes do not have smoke included sadly, that was a little effect I added myself. However I'm sure there are some smoking eye effects out there!

When The Love Runs Out

So some of you may have noticed I've been rather quiet since the Shadow Of The Day post... That is due in large part to the feelings behind that post coming to fruition and ending up being a bit more than feelings... About 5 hours after that post went live my now ex sent me an email to break up with me, well a PDF attached to an email. Such classy fellows I date right?!? So needless to say my emotions have been such that creates a bit of a problem. I have worked on a number of looks since that day, but I have been having a problem actually getting them photographed in such a way that I am able to convey enough of the emotion behind them that I feel they can be posted. Luckily this morning I had a break through with this one and hopefully the others are on the way to following so that I can post some this month before I spend the second half of it moving and unable to post. So here is the first of the posts that are the emotional journey of what I am going through...

Just so we are clear because I know there are a few people that will see this and worry, I am mostly over the break-up. I got dumped because I am too good for him; those are his own words. The way that the relationship fell apart pointed this out to me. I'm still a bit hurt but mostly because I did everything right, and it got repaid in the most classy *cleans up pile of dripped sarcasm* of ways.

Raznyye

Different.

As much as my style is primarily dark, my favorite color of all time is actually chartreuse. Anyone that knows me, knows that I geek out over anything I find in that color and I need to own it immediately. Moon just so happened to release a new neons HUD with two new hairs at UBER, which includes a color that I just NEEDED. The new colors are so vibrant, bright, and beautiful! I paired it with this dress form Zibska, which has 9 different colors on three separate texturable pieces (Bra, Panties, Dress) and four metal textures. Now playing with neon is fickle because there's always a tendency to want to take it too far to the point it becomes an eyesore to look at. With mine, I placed it on pale skin with complimenting colors and a bit of black to make it stand out, yet still be controlled. So with finaly touches of makeup and striking a sexy pose, I was definitely happy with how it came out.

With cStar Limited's recent move, the absolutely wonderful artist has released a brand new skin for those of us who love fantasy, pale skin, and pastel colors. This delicate, pink hued fae hybrid with marble eyes is named Elvy and she has a lore of her very own.

"Elvy is a pale fae elf who is connected to nature and at peace with the flowers and trees. Nature keeps her happy and harmonious!  Her closest friends are the creatures of the forest.  She keeps her creative heart close to her skin and enjoys painting pretty and cute flowers on her face.  Her passions are art, yoga, crafting vine jewelry, and archery.  Her immense skills as an archer are what keep her home in the forest safe.  She paints tribal lines on her cheeks from octopus ink.  Though her only weakness is the strong sun during midday.  Her best times are at night.  Her eyes are made of polished marble rocks that were given to her as a gift from a mysterious young man.  She never got his name but he did say one thing to her, "I gift you this...So you may see the world's reflection." This skin is so soft and lovely, she reminded me of a painted porcelain faery figurine I often see in magick shops. Looking at her I couldn't help but think of pink petals of a flower, so I found it fitting I would have her resting in the bounty of nature she loves. Finding the right forest was definitely a task, but I did manage to find one that was perfect. Elvy comes in a total of 10 fair tones (Albino, Baby Shell, Dawn, Ghost Milk, Illusive White, Ivory, Light, Marble, Peal, & Snow Panther) and includes four breast options, a pair of marble eyes, and appliers.

Sweet Rosa

Squee! JOLI made CLEAN SKINS! This has me all of the excite. I love buying skins with make-ups, but some days I just want a clean template to play with some of the more off-the-wall make-ups I find. Others I just don't want to look overly polished or done up. Today falls in the second category. It finally started to play the let's be sunny and warm and pretend spring is on the way where I live IRL and thus my avatar had to wear something fun and springy!

Anyways, JOLI made two different skins in 9 tones a piece and I have to say I am in love with he Satine Skin. Not only did she provide the shape and a ton of appliers for the skins but as testament form what Kaylith and I have done with them they look good on other shapes too! I Can Do Anything

So I decided to try my hand at something I've seen many bloggers do, but until this point I had never done on the blog. Thanks to participating as a skin fair blogger I received a whole pack of skins from [PXL], having asked for just one and not expecting to be one of the lucky few that got blogger items at all, so I could work with it and show it off I was floored that I was given so many options. Thus I wanted to try something that showed off more of the options than my traditional one at a time. So I took a trick that I have seen bloggers and stores do before but gave it my twist changing up the colors of the rest of what I use with each different shot.

The base avatar is the same for all 4 of my versions, but the make-up and add-ons are different for each. I lost my attention span and groove after completing just the 4 different Pale tone options they have out for skin fair, but you see how versatile these options are in each different picture and the same goes for the other 3 tones they have out. Though I will admit I do enjoy hitting the whole look with all I've got, and making each shot something truly unique is more my style, I may not look past this method in the future as I have in the past when I'm feeling overwhelmed but want to show off all the things!

The Strange Case of Helmet Hair

So this post has been slowly being plotted as Blue Falcon Industries and Kalithium Corperation released teasers for their Futurewave release that was delayed. Because Kaylith was doing the hair I got special sneak peeks because it is hard to hide stuff from each other when you live in the same SL house... But anyways THIS HELMET. Not only does the helmet have a butt-ton of options so does the hair. I being the far less military RPing, actual armor wearing, god forbid more girly...? of us told Kaylith I had dibs on the more toned down setup, where I would focus mainly on her hair and not the awesomeness that is the helmet itself. But I am so proud of this girl it being her first release of a mesh hair and building it to integrate so seamlessly with the helmet. Anyways I know I'm late to the Futurewave parade but so were they!

That Little Voice Inside My Head

My brain this past week is taking me over under and basakwards around every little thing that pops into in and tbh it is getting old. The what ifs keep popping up and make me second guess and doubt myself. Not to mention cause my hart to be more on my sleeve than it usually is, and that is already pretty bad. We've Come So Far

Strawberry Singh put out her Monday Meme this week and it struck a chord with me and the outfit I was fiddling with the break me out of my Pre-Valentine's Day funk I was in. So here goes...

Meme instructions: Share when you started Second Life, when you started blogging about Second Life and talk about any Second Life blogging milestones you wish to share with your readers. 

I started SL back in college, which really wasn't that long ago considering, but since I'm a young-en the fact that I just had my 6th Rez Day is slightly remarkable in my eyes. At first I was only on for the social interactions and the clubs but I started to get hooked on the fashions when I became a +DV8+ Live Model back in the day. After a couple years of doing that I started to look into blogging and when they shut their doors I ended up with too much time on my hands, and still had my interest in fashion, so I decided to try out blogging in July 2012. From there it has been a learning experience. I looked back at some of my first pictures and just cringed at the picture quality from my craptop before I discovered how to trick it into thinking it could take a decent photo. Right now the biggest milestone I can see that is what really speaks to me here is the start of this year. In case you didn't notice, I came back with a vengeance when I got my new computer built and I am loving every minute of it. Not only has my photography improved just because better card, but now that I can see shadows and materials I am learning how to bend the lighting to my will and all those other little things I never bothered to learn because I couldn't see the difference. My whole blogging mojo seems to have gotten a revamp too with this new computer. Last month, between Kaylith and I, we did 16 blog posts. There have only been a couple months since I started this blog that we have come close to that and it feels good to be able to let my creative juices flow so freely once more.

So now to get to that part I said about my funk, because lets face it after getting my mojo back I was upset to have plateaued so quickly, and spent this past weekend raging after I finally got the two pictures taken and convinced myself I was happy with them. I was getting frustrated and everywhere I looked I couldn't find inspiration, so I decided to go out of my box and remembered seeing some off the wall stuff at [sYs] that I could play with and see if that randomness that I didn't think I could pull off got me back in my groove...

Well I ended up not going with the original dress I had in mind, because the friend I brought shopping *coughs*Lillith*coughs* got distracted in the back room where the TRON inspired dress was hiding and I wandered in and found this sculpted prim beauty. I bought it for giggles thinking there was no way I would be able to pull off the weird sleeves and ended up relishing the challenge of working with prims again, though I won't be going back anytime soon (because finding a pose was the hardest part with the prim skirt and the weird shaped sleeves). Anyways it got me thinking about how far WE have progressed as individuals and as a community since I started SL and it got me back in my groove. So here's to US!

The 11th Hour

So I love that the theme of Uber this round is celestial and of course I leaned more to the Sci-Fi parts of it right off the bat. I couldn't pass up the jacket or pants and they were instant buys for me. Pair that with Nunna, which Kaylith showed me ages ago for those added sci-fi makeup bits, and sYs, that place that I found the goggles last time I wanted them for a sci-fi look that I can't believe I haven't explored more of, and I found myself off exploring far off lands through space and time...

Some days Ivey makes getting dressed too easy... Between outfits that are sold together like the one I am wearing today, and textures that just match and flow across the board I can always find something to wear. Yes that means the days I am being uber lazy and the days I will get mad if the colors are a half a shade away form being a perfect match... Kaylith will attest to those days.
